Day 2 of Dayton Trip: Chiefs’ Ten Run Ninth Repeats Comeback Win
- 0 Comments... What do you have to say?
The second day of our Dayton, OH baseball trip was no less exciting than the first. Trailing 7-4 going into the ninth inning, the Peoria Chiefs scored 10 runs, and later held the Dragons in the bottom of the ninth to win 13-7.
It was also a good day because we got to eat breakfast and lunch with Kyler. Life as a minor leaguer on the road is tough, and their schedule is often unknown until the last minute. Most evenings the players eat dinner after the game, and get in bed anytime between 1 and 3. Late nights are usually followed by late mornings with breakfast rarely before 11. Yesterday the bus left for the field at 4:30, but the day before was 3:00. So lunch comes whenever possible.
Anyways, life’s not easy as a minor league baseball player, but in my opinion it beats a day in the office all day long. And I think Kyler would agree!
Our cousins Jill and Lindsay Milton also made the trip to Dayton yesterday. They’re originally from Owensboro, KY, and Lindsay currently lives in Lexington. It was great to see them, and I’m glad Kyler was able to get us six seats together! By the way, check out the view from these seats at Fifth Third Field:
That’s all for today, and I’ll post more updates tonight or in the morning. Oh, and I had planned on posting more updates on Twitter during the game, but the rain hampered my efforts.
