Dems Scared of Rush Limbaugh
- 1 Comments... What do you have to say?
I’ll admit, Rush can be a little over the top. But who does President Obama and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee think they are? Whether you agree with Rush or not, he’s got the right as a tax paying American citizen to run his mouth and say what he wants. The DCCC has taken exception to his anti-liberal views and started an online petition asking their supporters to denounce the conservative talk show host.
President Bush never called out the left wing loons on CNBC during his Presidency. The Republican National Congressional Committee never started an online petition asking people to express their outrage at Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman or Rachel Maddow – all of which dogged the President of the most powerful country in the world while he was still in office.
People like Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Matthews, Olberman and Maddow are essential to the existence of our democratic government. They are the voice of dissent who not only have the ears of the American people, but the voices with massive public reach.
If we silence those who think differently from us, we have lost the very thing that has made this country special. You don’t have to like what Rush says, but instead of crucifying him, just change the station.
In my own opinion, the democrats, including President Obama, realize that although Rush may be a little over the top in his delivery, he provides some very detailed insight into the intricacies of the Obama plan. He is against everything the Democrats stand for, and they know he is the highest paid talk show host in America. Having almost 15 million listeners doesn’t hurt his cause either. He poses a serious threat to their plans.
Instead of bashing him personally and attempting to turn America against him, why can’t they just dispute his reasoning. Or can they?

Kevin, I am a student at UTC also, and this is my first time to blog. You should feel good that you have prompted discussion. I don’t claim any sort of political party allegiance, but I think that Rush Limbaugh is dead wrong in this instance and it scares me that he has the influence that he does. For him to state that he hopes the Obama administration fails with the stimulus effort is wreckless and unpatriotic. What is he hoping to achieve with this? Does he want everyone to look back and say, “Rush was right” if our economic situation worsens? What does he propose that we do? Most of what I hear from Rush Limbaugh is criticism with very few good ideas. It actually bothers me that so many people do listen to him. Maybe I’m wrong?
I think that our nation is currently facing a situation that we’ve never been in and people are scared. It’s obvious, we’re all scared. But at the same time, I cannot remember a more bipartisan period than we are experiencing right now. Politicians are scared too, and all that they know to do is criticize what is being done. What good is it doing? Right now we need more people who are helping and less people who are pointing fingers. A large number of legislators drafted the stimulus plan and I hope they know what they’re doing. Who knows if it’s the right plan, but shouldn’t we hope that it works. Anyway, I’m very disappointed with Rush right now. Maybe you can redeem him for me. What are his alternative ideas?
