Day Two of Boise Trip Ends With A Hawks Win

Posted by Kevin

The Hawks had dropped four games in a row going into Saturday night’s matchup with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Both teams scored in the fifth, but Salem-Keizer took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning. Boise then tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Hawks pitcher David Cales, making his Boise debut, held the Volcanoes in the top of the ninth inning. Drew Rundle singled in the bottom of the ninth and advanced to third on a throwing error by the pitcher. With Rundle on third, the Volcanoes pulled their infield in. Josh Vitters chopped a ground ball past the shortstop, and Rundle scored ending the game.

Kyler ended the night going 1-for-4, but his last out was a line drive to the centerfielder that I just knew was going to get down. Overall he’s still hitting the ball well.

The Hawks take on the Volcanoes again tonight at 7:15 PM.
