A Destin Independence Day
Autumn’s parents were kind enough to invite us to Destin with them this past week. After going to the beach every year growing up as a kid, it’s been 3 years since I’ve had the time to make the trip. We only had four days this time, but hey, that’s better than nothing! I had originally planned to post while I was down there, but I promised myself I was going to take a true vacation. I didn’t work, blog, or do anything else that I do on a day-to-day basis. It was a WONDERFUL trip! I’ve included some thoughts, photos and videos from the trip. Enjoy.
Ahh, the Beach!

It was wonderful to be back in the sand, watching the waves crash onto the shore. There’s just something about that scene that momentarily rescues me from the struggles of every day life. I’m sure there are plenty of beaches around the world that have more to offer, but this scene just screams of paradise.
Proud to be an American

Sure, everything about America is not perfect. But I’ll take the worst day in America over the best day as a citizen of any other country in the world any day of the year! It’s hard to find a more patriotic person than me, but there were a lot of us in Destin this weekend. This was not my first time celebrating our nation’s Independence day at the beach, and it hopefully won’t be my last. Thousands of people gathered at the beach for the fireworks display on Friday night. I’ve included a video of the grand finale below (You’ll have to check back for the video because I cannot get iMovie to import my videos from my Flip Video!)!
Self-Contained Life in the Beach Resort
We were fortunate enough to stay at the Sandestin Beach Resort just outside of Destin, Florida - officially Miramar Beach, Florida. What an amazing place! It was a self-contained city with everything you would ever need for a short vacation. In fact, we parked our car, and only got it back out twice. The “cool” thing to do is to use an electric golf cart to get around. (Steve Ray could make a killing down there!) We used our golf cart to access the beach, go to the grocery store, shop, eat dinner, and everything in between. Check out some of the photos from inside the resort below (I’ll be posting more to my Flickr page later).

Back to Reality…Temporarily
I’ve always heard that all good things must come to an end. Maybe that’s true, but I’d prefer to think otherwise. They may have temporarily come to an end this weekend, but I’ll get back down there. I’ve got my sights set on a condo or house purchase somewhere in that area in the near future (5 years). You might think that sounds like a stretch - and maybe it is - but I’m going to do it! And when I do, you can come visit me, or just check out photos of my life as I post them on KBB2.com - Commentary by Kevin Burke.
For more photos check out my Flickr page. I’ll be posting videos from my trip to my Youtube page.
