The Chattanooga Times Free Press used to run a weekly section that listed all current professional baseball players from the Chattanooga area, where they were playing, their statistics, and other pertinent information.  It’s been years since they abandoned that section on Sundays, and nobody seemed to pick up where they left off.

I was always interested to see how our local products were performing at the professional level, so when they quit printing that feature, I was very disappointed.  Then Kyler got drafted.  His senior season of high school and the ensuing Major League Baseball draft were relatively high profile stories in Southeast Tennessee in 2006.  Since then, no fewer than two people per week ask me how he is doing and where he is playing.

One thing leads to another, and they realize I played high school ball with Adam Howard, and little leage ball with Wes Hodges.  They too made the jump to professional baseball, and after the “Kyler” questions, I hear, “Well what about Adam Howard and Wes Hodges?”

It is to this end that I’ve decided to pick up where the Times Free Press left off many years ago.  I don’t have the time to cover a ton of players, but I’ll do the best I can.  If there’s a player you’d like me to follow, please leave a comment on this post with his name and organization.
