Burke Report Daily Wrap-Up: 5/29/08
This will be the first of many regular daily entries to come. In addition to my normal posting, I’ll post once daily as a way to journalize my days. These post will be relatively short and will include things like thoughts about the day’s happenings, stock market updates in relation to my holdings and portfolio, rants and ramblings about the day’s experiences and more. Please feel free to leave a comment.
The Day
Today was a crazy day! My business partner was busy improving (cough cough) his golf game in a local golf tournament, so I manned the store myself. Normally this would be no big deal, but I had to run from East Brainerd to East Ridge to Hixson and be back in time to meet some cheer moms who brought their daughters by to try on shoes. It wasn’t a bad day at work - just hectic - which is usually a good thing in business.
Autumn and I took my grandmother and great aunt to the Lookouts game tonight. A ball game is always a good way to relax after a busy day. I’ll post some photos from the game tomorrow!
Investment Portfolio Recap
This morning I set a limit order to buy 6 Sept $40.00 Call options for Verizon Wireless at $1.40. These 6 contracts represent the option to buy 600 shares of VZ from now until October. The order was filled at $1.39, and as of the end of day, was up 15.83% representing an unrealized gain of $132.00.
Other holdings were down on the day. Standard Pacific (SPF) was down $0.15 per share to $3.14 and my Oct $17.50 Call options (8 of them) for Blue Coat Systems was down from $3.40 to $2.90.
