I Won’t Buy Anything Toshiba Anymore

Several years ago I purchased a 52″ Toshiba DLP Projection TV. I thought I had arrived! I had never had a television that large. Everything was wonderful…until the lamp went out.

I called Toshiba, and they informed me there was a recall on the lamp, and they would replace it for free. Perfect!…until the lamp went out again!….and again! The television cost me over $2,500, and when you add the two lamps we had to buy for it, the cost is well over $3,000.

Fast forward 6 months, and the my large ‘masculine’ television begins to make a humming noise. It was no big deal at first, but as time went by, the noise became louder. If we were watching an action movie, it was no big deal. But a quite movie or television show, and the noise would make for an unpleasant experience.

We took the television to the nearest authorized service center - in DALTON, GA!!! It cost $45 for them to diagnose the problem and inform me the optical block would need to be replaced. Expensive? You got it! $500 to be exact. I called Toshiba hoping they would be able to work with me. I mean this thing has been nothing but a nightmare. Of course there was nothing they could do.

I got a phone call this week saying my television was repaired. I’ll be happy to have my TV back, but I have made a promise to myself to never buy anything Toshiba again if I can help it. I know electronics will have issues, and that’s not my problem. My problem is with their terrible customer support. I have never had a good experience in dealing with them. I will not buy anything they make, and I will encourage everyone I know to refrain from giving them their money as well.
