Save 5% Every Time You Fill Up at the Pump

Discover Open Road CardIf you’re like me, you probably cringe every time you pull into a gas station to fill up your car. Here in Chattanooga, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded has been treading around $3.65. How would you like to save 5% on every gas purchase you make no matter the price of gas?

I’m not a proponent of opening a multitude of credit cards, but if used correctly and responsibly, they can work in your favor. Let’s look at the Discover Open Road card. Use your Open Road card for gas and vehicle maintenance purchases and receive 5% cash back. That instantly changes the price of gas from $3.65 to $3.47. If I fill up my fifteen gallon tank, I’ll save $2.74. That’s a savings of $142 annually just on fuel. As gas prices go up, so will your savings! Every bit helps! Apply for the Discover® Open Road Card today! Also enjoy a 0% introductory APR and a 0% rate on balance transfers with the card.

  2. Hey! Thanks for the tip. Thats a pretty sweet deal. I’ll have to take a look. I have a deep affinity for solutions minded people. You seem to be one of them. Thanks!

  3. @ Ed H. - thanks for the comment. 5% isn’t a huge deal, but over time it adds up. And like I said, the more prices go up, the more you’ll save. People have to be careful though not to abuse the card. I would only suggest people charge what they can pay off in full each month.
