How I Completely Wasted $2,600
- 0 Comments... What do you have to say?
I’m going to focus much of my writing over the next few months to financial talk. I’ll start today with how I completely wasted $2,600 over the past 12 months!
Around this time last year, local public golf course, Windstone, announced they would go private. For their membership drive, they were offering a no-initiation fee registration. I thought, “WOW! That’s a great deal!” All of my “golf buddies” I talked to said it was a good deal as well.
Now I’m no Ricky Honeycutt on the golf course, but I enjoy swinging the clubs and hitting the golf balls. And as I’ve always said, golf can be fun whether you’re good or terrible! So I joined Windstone with the intention of golfing more frequently and improving my game. I even had several “lessons” with Ricky.
Fast forward 12 months down the road. I’ve spent $220 per month for 12 months, and I’ve golfed twice. So instead of saving money on my green fees and getting unlimited practice time on the driving range, I went two times and paid $1,300 for 18 holes.
I won’t even get into what I could have used that money for. Ultimately I’ll chalk this one up as a learning experience. I’ve been happy with Windstone, and I’ve got nothing but good things to say about them and their course. But I’ll be calling out there this weekend to cancel my membership. At $1,300 per 18 holes, I think I’ll take up another hobby.
